i know it is often difficult,
but your breath taken,
is actually given.
a gift back to all,
who love you so.

BREATHE
.
just breathe,
me into your soul,
where only your dreams,
and thoughts that you stole,
are protected from the eyes.
that are making you whole.
just breathe.
.
just breathe,
me into another day,
tomorrows path through,
meadows where we lay,
kiss me, hold me near,
listen to what i say,
just breathe.

HALF PAST YOU
.
falling deep into slumber,
only to be greeted by her.
like that of a fallen feather,
laid upon me with desire.
where did you come from?
and all you brought.
your gifts by hand,
reach me beyond thought.
the result, words flow,
the river is not dry,
like the tides by phase of moon,
you unleashed my cry.
feel no threat,
you fit nicely in my thought,
there, just there,
like my spirit guide always taught.
where this river flows,
no one is to say.
floating on your work,
i’ll keep this intrigue at bay.
falling deeper again,
she is pulling away.
i damn this sleep!
can you hear me? stay.

lines crossed
.
you chased me into the woods
crossing the guarded line
into my calm, into my haven
i’ve now blended my skin
into the cool green backdrop
of giant sequoias, hidden
this time i’ll stay
and never walk out
into a world of fear

I wish you would just go!
Laying in harbor overnight,
The world of oceans,
Beyond you with open arms.
.
Why is it you linger?
Perhaps it is the thought,
Of leaving a piece of yourself,
Deep behind my eyes.
.
No ocean will ever fill,
Your empty heart,
Or cradle you to sleep,
The way I did last night.

Quote post
We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

Dream
.
I dreamt under your shade,
Of long valleys and lush glens,
Granite temples guarding great rivers.
And like a thrasher calling a mate,
The wind across your needles,
Sung a soft lullaby from heaven’s gate.
Oh! California, land of dreams,
Where the sun pauses to set,
For one last look over his shoulder,
Slipping now, drowning into the blue Pacific.
Intoxicated, on your vast beauty.
Oh! California…

Text post
.
Nature speaks to me,
Through a voice so sweet,
Like that of a songbird,
Calling for a mate.
.
Her breath resonates,
The passing needles,
Of a conifer forest.
A whispered lilt.
.
Intoxicating my soul,
With every gust.
Delivering knowledge,
And secrets to ponder.
